We are committed to working closely with local landowners and farmers to support agricultural operations and minimize the impact of our wind projects on farmland.
Before moving forward with this project, a comprehensive agricultural impact assessment will be conducted to ensure minimal disruption to local farmland. This assessment will be shared with the community to inform decision-making and help ensure that farming operations remain protected throughout the project’s lifespan.
wpd Canada’s projects contribute to host communities through job creation and indirect economic benefits, such as increased revenue for local service industries and a boost in activity during construction and operation.
We are committed to engaging with local residents, business owners, and government officials to understand their priorities and concerns. Based on this feedback, we will tailor community benefit programs and support initiatives to meet the specific needs of the community. Further details on the benefits program will be shared as they become available.
We believe in transparent, ongoing collaboration with our community partners. Our inclusive public engagement process ensures that local voices shape the project’s development. Check back regularly for updates and details on public consultation events. We will also be launching a newsletter to ensure that residents remain well-informed and engaged throughout the project.
In the meantime, you’re invited to share your feedback or ask questions anytime. Reach out to us at: cedarflatswind@wpd-canada.ca.
Conservation is a key consideration in the planning and development of the Cedar Flats Wind Project. wpd Canada follows provincial guidelines and will work closely with local conservation authorities to protect species such as birds and bats, as well as sensitive local habitats and water sources.
Environmental impact assessments will be conducted both before and during construction, and post construction monitoring would be carried out to ensure that long-term environmental protection is maintained throughout the life of the project.
wpd Canada will ensure clear and accountable project management throughout the entire lifecycle of the Cedar Flats Wind Project, from construction to decommissioning. Throughout the project’s lifespan, residents will receive regular updates and information via newsletters and the project website to ensure they stay informed about project progress.
The health and safety of residents is a top priority for wpd Canada throughout the full life cycle of the Cedar Flats Wind Project, including development, operation and decommissioning and reclamation. We are committed to following industry best practices and meeting all required health and safety standards for the project.
